My desire is to fully understand a client’s objectives and vision while acknowledging how each site is unique, and combining both to create imaginative and sustainable outdoor spaces.
Through the design process I strive to understand your ideas and desires to achieve a personalized outdoor living space you will enjoy indefinitely. We can collaborate in attaining creative solutions to challenging (and exciting) situations including lakeside properties, pool patios, water features, barbeque areas, wetland buffers and low maintenance yards. Integration of plantings and hardscape features enable us to aesthetically enhance your property while creating lasting value.
SERVICES
We provide professional landscape design - to scale, detailed and readable drawings for the professional landscape contractor or the homeowner to follow. Computer enhanced photo images can be prepared on request to show before and after views of proposed improvements. An interview will help us collaborate on your priorities and potential enhancements to your existing property to create your dream landscape.
Landscape Design services include:
• Layout and site design
• Grading and drainage design
• Hardscape design (patios, decks, walls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, water features,
pergolas and arbors)
• Swimming pool/spa layout
• Enhanced photo image
• Construction detailing
• Planting plan
• Outdoor lighting design
The cost of a landscape plan is determined after the initial meeting/interview and is based on the scope of design services. The quote will include travel time, meetings, conceptual design review, finished landscape plan, specifications and plant list.
Consultation services provided at your site: We will collaborate to assess problem areas for possible solutions or provide a scaled hand sketch for a planting bed or foundation planting. Hand sketches for at-site consultation are generally limited in scope to one larger area or a couple smaller areas and time on site is usually 2.5 to 3 hours.
Installation coordination or oversight: This service is provided on an hourly basis and is tailored to the client’s desire for help with bid analysis and comparisons, project compliance inspections, plant purchasing, and plant layout on site.
While some homeowners are proficient with installation, others may require the services of a professional installer. I can refer you to contractors that I have worked with in the past and recommend you check with their customer references before choosing. I advise most clients to get 3 bids from potential contractors. Please note that landscape design plans are not a how-to guide. Fortunately for the do-it-yourselfers, many manufacturers provide installation guidelines for their hardscape products, and plant nurseries provide planting guides to help the survival and success of plant material.
ABOUT
As a landscape designer with a degree in Landscape Architecture, I have been creating beautiful and functional landscapes and gardens for over 20 years. After starting my career in the Sacramento Valley in California, I moved to New England in 1993. My design experience ranges from working for landscape architecture and environmental engineering firms to working with landscape supply and construction companies.
Today, as principal of LM Land Design, LLC I continue to rely on the experience gained from working on landscape masterplans, garden designs, commercial revitalization plans, streetscapes, assessment and restoration projects, visual impact analysis reports and wetland buffer plans. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Davis. My continuing education through practice, research and instruction, of environmental issues, site assessment, best management practices, CAD and 3D software, product advancement and plant introductions is key to bringing a successful plan to you.
